Piston rings for the Jaguar V8 engine

07/07/2010

As part of their ongoing parts development Racing Green Cars have now developed a full range of piston rings for the Jaguar 4.0 and 4.2 litre V8 engines. These rings have been developed to complement the range of crankshaft bearings also available for the same engines.

Despite the Jaguar V8 engines all sharing the same bore size there are in fact 3 different ring packs to support the various pistons used by Jaguar in this engine.

RG 063 has a 1.50mm top and second ring with a 3.00mm oil control ring

RG 064 has a 1.20mm top ring and a 1.50 second ring with a 2.50mm oil control ring

RG 111 has a 1.20mm top ring and a 1.50 second ring with a 2.00mm oil control ring

These piston rings are sold in packs of 4 cylinders so 2 packs are required for a full engine rebuild. Nikasil bores require that the piston rings are not chrome plated so for a Nikasil application these rings will need to be coated with Titanium Nitride which Racing Green Cars can offer.

Please feel free to contact Racing Green Cars for any more information but on stripping the V8 engine and measuring the relevant ring thicknesses should confirm the required ring packs. Racing Green Cars can also offer a refurbishing process for Jaguar V8 pistons providing they are not badly worn. This process fully cleans the piston and then recoats the skirt with the dry lubrication coating. Please contact Racing Green Cars for further information.
