Racing Green Cars has recently developed a very high performance front brake disc for Jaguar XKRs equipped with Brembo brakes. Whilst adequate for road use the standard discs may not be suitable for prolonged high speed braking or track days.
The Racing Green 2 piece brake discs have been developed as a direct replacement for the original disc but with greatly enhanced capability. They can be used with the standard Jaguar brake pads but Racing Green recommend the use of their uprated brake pad set utilising Ferodo DS 2500 pad material front and rear.
The aluminium bell is made from superlight aircraft quality 6061-T6 alloy. The thermal conductivity and strength of this material allow it to handle large temperature changes and mechanical loads with minimal distortion.This precision engineered bell allows the high quality cast iron disc to expand and contract uniformly with the extremes of heat encountered when controlling speed on a performance car of this size. The cast iron disc has been designed to dissipate the tremendous heat generated whilst braking efficiently hence minimising distortion. The directional 355 x 32mm rotor is secured to the disc with National Aerospace Standard bolts and lock nuts. The discs are grooved to achieve improved pad bite under extreme braking and to minimise the time taken to bed new pads to the discs. The discs are marked with thermographic paint to allow monitoring of the disc temperatures encountered during use.
Racing Green Cars are developing an upgrade kit for the non Brembo braked XK8s and XKRs allowing the use of these discs with the original standard calipers giving a great increase in braking performance. This kit includes modified mounting brackets and carrier to allow the use of the calipers with the much larger discs. This kit is also suitable for earlier XJR and XJ8 models.
These discs have been race tested and have performed exceptionally well on our Racing Green XJS helping it to a recent class win at Donington.
